A thick omelet like in kindergarten. Omelet like in kindergarten in a frying pan. Cooking in a steamer

Today we will tell you how to prepare a dish from childhood at home - a fluffy omelette “like in kindergarten.” Anyone who visited the kindergarten will definitely understand what we are talking about! It’s hard to forget the unique taste of this tall and “airy” egg casserole, which was very different from an omelet cooked at home in a frying pan.

It's all about the proportions of the products - a large portion of milk was added to the kindergarten omelette, which is why it turned out so tender. The cooking method is also important here: instead of frying, the milk-egg mixture was baked in the oven. Now, knowing all the nuances of this dish, you can make an omelette “like in kindergarten” at home at any time, remembering this pleasant and incomparable taste!

Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • eggs - 6 pcs.;
  • salt - ½ teaspoon (or to taste);
  • milk - 300 ml;
  • butter (for greasing the mold) - about 5 g.

Omelet “like in kindergarten” in the oven recipe

How to make a fluffy omelette in the oven

  1. Break the eggs into a deep bowl. Add salt.
  2. Next, pour in the milk and stir the mixture with a whisk. There is no need to beat the mass: you just need to combine the egg whites and yolks with milk into a homogeneous liquid.
  3. Coat a heat-resistant rectangular container with butter (here it is better to be careful, as excess oil may prevent the omelette from rising). Fill the mold with a mixture of eggs and milk. The whole secret of the splendor of the kindergarten omelet was simply that in one baking sheet the cooks tried to cook as many servings as possible at once, filling the container as much as possible. Therefore, if you want to get a tall omelette at home, you need to give preference to a small form, for example measuring 23x13 cm, as in our example.
  4. Bake the omelette at 200 degrees for about 35-40 minutes, until golden brown on top. The time may vary depending on the characteristics of the oven and the thickness of the milk-egg layer. During the baking process, the omelette will “grow” by about 1/3, but after removing from the oven it will settle - this is how it should be! There may also be some whey left at the bottom of the pan; this is normal and natural.
  5. After cooling slightly, cut the omelette into portions and serve.

Omelet “like in kindergarten” is ready! Bon appetit!

Every person has their own memories from childhood. Some people remember toys, others remember the first time they rode a bicycle, and others remember the taste of food. Under any circumstances, an omelet prepared at home with love is sure to please not only an adult, but also a child.

How to cook an omelet like in kindergarten

Contrary to popular belief, scrambled eggs were not invented in Rus' at all - it is a dish of French cuisine. There is even a saying that a true Frenchman must be able to cook an excellent omelette. According to the classic recipe, the dish is made with beaten eggs fried in butter. However, in our country it is customary to add other ingredients to the omelette: milk, cream, sour cream, meat, fish or vegetables.

It’s not difficult to prepare an omelet like in childhood. From the dishes you will need a bowl with wide sides, a whisk or mixer, a baking dish or a frying pan. If you plan to add meat or fish fillet to the filling, then take a blender or use a meat grinder. Some ingredients require preliminary preparation:

  • Milk should be taken at room temperature. Therefore, if you did not have time to take it out of the refrigerator in advance, slightly warm the product over low heat or in the microwave.
  • Eggs must be fresh. If you don’t trust store-bought products, buy homemade products from a farmer you know.
  • Fry meat, fish and vegetables in advance or simmer until cooked in a frying pan, and only then pour in beaten eggs.

In the oven

To make a really tasty omelette in the oven, like in a kindergarten, it will take a little longer than when cooking in a frying pan, but you will get a dish with a delicate texture, very fluffy. Average cooking time is approximately 15-30 minutes. It is better to choose a temperature of about 180-200 degrees, but if your oven is not electric, it is better to monitor the temperature so that the omelet does not burn. Another very important rule is that you must not open the oven door.

In a frying pan

Unlike egg soufflé, an omelette prepared according to the classic recipe in a frying pan should not be fluffy. The French fry beaten eggs on the stove without a lid on one side until the mass becomes dense. Then the mixture is turned over and brought to readiness. Before serving, such an omelette is folded in half or into a tube, inside which the filling is placed. To cook an omelet like in a garden in a frying pan, you need to deviate a little from these principles: close the frying pan with a lid and cook the eggs until cooked without frying on the other side.

In a slow cooker

To prepare an omelet in a multicooker, use the “Baking” or “Frying” mode. However, it will be much more convenient to prepare a lush and juicy dish using the “Multi-cook” or “Steam” function, setting the cooking time yourself. When preparing an omelet like in the garden in a slow cooker, you need to remember that you can open the lid only 5-10 minutes after the sound signal. Otherwise the omelette will fall off.

Kindergarten omelet recipe

Different cuisines of the world have their own varieties of omelet: the Italians have a vegetable frittata, the Spaniards have a corn tortilla, and in the Ukraine they prepare potato fry. The traditional recipe for an omelet in the post-Soviet space, like in a kindergarten, involves adding milk and, as a rule, it is baked in the oven. Suitable for filling: ham, sausage, minced meat or fish, vegetables. A very tasty and tender omelette made from mixed ingredients is obtained by adding grated cheese. Try making several varieties and find your perfect cooking recipe.

The secret to a fluffy omelet like in kindergarten

How to cook an airy, tall and tender omelette with the addition of milk? To do this, you don’t need to go to culinary school and master any special subtleties; take note of a few simple tips from experienced chefs:

  • The success of a large, tall omelet lies in the correct selection of ingredients. Know that 1 egg should always contain at least 15 ml of milk.
  • The best option for selecting proportions: fill empty egg shells with milk.
  • If you want to try to make a fluffy omelette in the oven, then try to beat the eggs correctly. The mixer and blender greatly destroy the protein structure and do not allow the dish to rise. Use a hand whisk.
  • Eggs that are not beaten will not rise at all.
  • If you have an extra minute, beat the whites with a fork separately from the yolks, and carefully combine both mixtures before cooking.
  • A little baking powder, starch or slaked soda will help keep the egg omelet airy. With the addition of flour the dish will be denser and thicker.

Sometimes it seems to me that all children, based on the way they eat, are divided into two categories: “little” and “all”. It is clear that more problems arise with the first ones, when you don’t know what to cook for them, just so that they eat. It is especially striking when a child refuses the finest, lovingly prepared homemade delicacies and demands kindergarten “canteen” food. Now it has even become somehow fashionable to remember and prepare dishes, such as this very omelette in the oven like in kindergarten. If you don’t know how to prepare it so that it is fluffy, porous, tall, retains its shape and does not fall, our recipe is in front of you. Step by step and with photos. Oh, by the way, if you want to cook right away, click on the corresponding content link and jump straight to the process. How is a kindergarten omelet so different from a regular one?

Firstly, the number of ingredients and their proportions. You can't make this with 1-2 eggs. You will need at least 4-5 eggs. Despite the fact that I indicate the exact amount of milk below, you should adjust the proportion yourself, since it also depends on the size of the eggs. This means, break them into a bowl, just shake, evaluate, at least by eye, the volume. Then pour milk into another bowl, the volume of which will exceed 3 times. Thus, the proportion of volumes of egg: milk is 1: 3. Of course, in kitchens in kindergartens, cooks were guided not by this principle, but by technological maps that were attached to recipes for dishes prepared according to GOSTs (state standards) of the USSR. The weight of each ingredient in grams was always strictly indicated there, even a standard egg of the category needed for an omelette. But why do we need these difficulties at home? Therefore, it’s simple – proportion.

Secondly, the cooking method. Unlike the morning omelet, which everyone is used to frying in a frying pan, the kindergarten omelet is baked in the oven, like a casserole. What kind of utensils were used then? Deep, rimmed baking sheets, cast iron or enamel-coated, which no matter how you grease them, the casserole will still stick to them. No matter how they write on the Internet that a real omelet like in kindergarten can only be obtained in such a baking sheet... Well, nonsense! Cookware should be thick-walled and non-stick, so modern glass and ceramic pans work best. In them, the omelette will not stick to the walls, and you can easily take it out after baking. It is also important that the sides are high and at least 5-6 cm high. As for the size, you need to fill it with the egg-milk mixture at least half, and preferably 2/3 of its height. If the mixture spreads along the bottom and is 1 centimeter high in liquid form before baking, don’t expect it to be fluffy! Thus, the height (or thickness, if you prefer) of the mixture in the mold should be no lower than 2.5-3 centimeters.

Thirdly, the time and conditions of baking. The temperature should be average - about 180°C. The oven, of course, needs to be preheated. The omelette should simmer and grow in it, and not immediately set into a crust from the high temperature. You cannot open the oven, or even pull the door. It’s like with a sponge cake or meringue, the splendor of which also depends on the eggs. Opened it - the temperature dropped, pulled it - the air came out of the mass ahead of time, before the bubbles became fixed. Baking time is about 30-40 minutes. Moreover, after turning off the oven, it is better not to open it for some time and let the omelettes stand for another 5-7 minutes inside.

Enjoy your meal!

P.S. For those who are interested in an omelet for a one-year-old child, I would still recommend turning to more knowledgeable sources than culinary sites - pediatricians and nutritionists, in order to first of all listen to their advice.

There is probably not a single housewife who has not tried to bake an omelette at least once. And not simple, but the kind that is served to children in kindergarten or students in the school canteen.

But does everyone succeed? Sometimes the following happens: first the omelette rises perfectly in the oven, delighting the hostess immensely, and then... it falls, turning into a plump pancake.

Of course, the omelette turns out delicious, but why does it turn out low?

Cooking secrets

  • The splendor of the omelet depends on the ratio of milk and eggs. For one egg you need to take 50 ml of milk. Moreover, the more eggs, the better.
  • A properly selected form for baking an omelette is the key to success. It can be round, square, rectangular, but it must be small in volume and have high sides. If you pour the omelette mixture onto a regular baking sheet, it will spread out in a thin layer and you won’t get a fluffy omelette. In a small form with high edges, the omelette will actively rise during baking.
  • Some housewives add flour to the omelette mixture. Of course, the omelette will keep its shape, but it will certainly lose its juiciness. Therefore, it is better to leave the flour for other culinary creations, and cook an omelet, like in kindergarten, exclusively with milk and eggs.
  • The temperature at which the omelet is cooked should not be high. Some chefs recommend preheating the oven to 110° and baking the omelet for about an hour. Although most often it is cooked at 180° for 30-40 minutes, depending on the number of eggs and oven capabilities.
  • While cooking the omelette, the oven must not be opened for the first 20 minutes, otherwise it will fall off.
  • An omelet like in kindergarten can be cooked not only in the oven, but also in a frying pan or in a slow cooker. Moreover, in a slow cooker it invariably turns out fluffy and juicy.
  • The finished omelette always falls a little. This occurs due to the temperature contrast. Therefore, chefs recommend that you always place the omelet on a heated plate.

  • Place the pan in the oven and bake for 40 minutes.
  • Do not open the oven for the first 20 minutes so that the omelette mixture does not fall off. Watching the baking of an omelette, you can notice the following: first its edges begin to rise, but the middle remains liquid, then it bakes too. When the entire surface of the omelette is covered with a golden crust, and the middle of it is flush with the edges, the omelette can be removed from the oven.

If you decide to cook an omelette with flour, do not add too much of it. 1 teaspoon per 1 egg is enough.

Did you end up with a low omelette? Dont be upset! Place the delicious filling in the middle and fold the omelette in half. Sprinkle with chopped herbs and safely serve.

Omelet like in kindergarten in the oven

How to cook the right omelet? Everything is very simple!

There are specific proportions here - about 85-90 ml of milk for one egg. It depends on the size of the chicken egg - whether it is large or small. This amount of milk makes the omelette fluffy and tender.

Break the eggs into a deep plate.

We beat the eggs with a regular fork; there is no need to use any mechanisms. We just do it carefully and with love!

Add milk in portions and continue whisking. There is no need to do this too intensively. Don't forget to add salt.

We generously grease the omelette baking pans with butter, namely butter, which will give a soft structure and creamy aroma. Pour the egg mixture into the mold, the layer of which should not exceed 3 cm.

Place in an oven preheated to 200 degrees for about 15 minutes. Cooking time depends on the layer of egg mixture in the pan. It is clear that the thinner the layer (but not less than 1.5 cm), the faster the omelette will be ready. Follow the process!

All! A fluffy omelet like in kindergarten is ready! It should not be very dense, rather, like good jelly, it should ripple. 🙂 This omelette melts in your mouth. Pour melted butter on top. Mmmmm... The egg-creamy aroma is already gone! Hurry up, everyone's at the table!
